Baby Is Starting to Roll Over! Do You Still Need a Swaddle Once Your Baby Rolls?

Once baby starts learning to roll, decide whether to keep swaddling based on how skilled baby is. If baby is not yet good at rolling and could press on the stomach and vomit, roll off accidentally, or end up face-down, you can keep using the swaddle to temporarily limit movement. When baby is awake and parents are nearby, take the swaddle off first so baby has more room to stretch and train muscle memory. If baby can already roll over normally, consider stopping the swaddle for now and using it as an anti-kick blanket instead.
Some babies can only fall asleep when swaddled out of habit, so you can use the swaddle just at sleep time, to avoid baby losing security and crying because swaddling stopped.
